The villain trope has been a popular trend in the manga and light novel industry, so it’s no surprise that sooner or later, it will make its way into the anime industry. After the first villain anime with Katarina, we finally have our second villain anime of the season: I Am Villain So, I Am Taming the Final Boss. Our villain, Eileen Lauren D’Outrich, has recalled memories of her past life. The only problem is that she remembered her memories when she had already canceled her engagement with the Crown Prince and was about to wave her death flag. This time our heroine has a way of avoiding her cheesy end. To change his fate, he has no choice but to conquer the final boss through marriage!
destroying the flag of death with the power of love
Eileen’s main goal in I’m a Villainy So, I’m Taming the Final Boss is to avoid her gruesome end as a villain. Since recovering her memories, she does whatever she can to make sure none of her death flags are triggered. With this goal in mind and how the story sets everything up, it turned out to be an entertaining show full of romance and action, but after watching the entire series, we found a hidden theme: love conquers all. Though the main goal is to escape her evil end, it begins to turn not only to escape her death throes but also to love. His many actions and how he successfully avoided all bad endings, show that love conquers all matters. Even as the series nears its end it is revealed that love conquers all, even destroying the flag of death.
Sweet, Cringey and Funny Romance Scenes
As a romance-comedy, one of the biggest highlights of the series is the romance between the villain, Eileen, and the final boss, Claude. There seemed to be several different types of romantic scenes in this 13-episode series. Some of the scenes were so romantic that you couldn’t help but think how cute their relationship was. While it is romantic, there were also some scenes that were so goosebumps that you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed watching them interact. There were romantic scenes that were fun to watch and even scenes that combined all three. It was enjoyable to watch Eileen and Claude’s conversation. It not only showed the relationship between the two but also showed us their dynamics and how compatible they are with each other.
awkward pacing, missing parts of the story
If there are some things that we find fault with in anime, one of them would be the pacing. The pacing of the anime seems a little all over the place. In the beginning of the series, it felt rushed. It speeds through a climax in what appears to be the first story arc of the series in a few episodes. As we got to the middle of the series, the pacing started to slow down a bit, and we felt it was a bit better than before, but as we neared the end of the series, the pacing started to pick up again. It feels like we rush through three story arcs over the span of 13 episodes. Another drawback was that the story may be missing important parts that help with the overall flow of the story. While it didn’t destroy the flow of the overall show, we feel certain points in the story should have made it into the anime. This is probably because the anime is only of 13 episodes and the makers have to finish the story within 13 episodes. This is probably why pacing is showing up everywhere. This series would be better if they didn’t rush the story. That way, they can also include important parts of the story.

I Am A Villain So, I Am Taming The Final Boss captures its uniqueness by showing us a new perspective of the villain through a different narrative. While this romantic-comedy anime felt rushed and parts were missing, the romantic interactions between Eileen and Claude and Eileen’s determination to avoid a bad ending make up for its flaws. Does it live up to our expectation that the first villain is set? It lived up to our expectations as the second Villains anime and gave a good start for the villainous group in the anime industry. If you’ve seen I’m A Villain So, I’m Taming The Final Boss, let us know what you think. Did it live up to your expectations? Be sure to tell us in the comments below!
