At heart, Komi Communicate is a romance anime, despite the first season focusing on the comic side of Komi’s high school life. The relationship between Komi and Tadano flourishes this season, the first example being their bonding with classmates in the Komi family during a Christmas party, which doubles as their birthday. Our main characters get to sit beside each other and share a tender moment which is heart-wrenching.
However, the pice de résistance coincides with the Japanese reciprocal holidays of Valentine’s Day and White Day. Komi-san makes chocolates for her classmates, and the day’s anticipation comes to Tadano as he sees that everyone around him receives chocolates, but Komi can’t dare to give it to him yet. So instead, she finally gathers up the courage and delivers Tadano chocolates to her house, making her day, and all the fans’ hearts melt.
