Miyazaki’s Journey to Shuna has been released in the English language

It has just been announced that Hayao Miyazaki’s Shunna’s Journey will be released in the English language. Alex Dudok De Vito revealed on twitter that he is translating it. The 1983 graphic novel will be released by first second books on 1 November 2022.
Oscar-winning anime director Hayao Miyazaki is best known for his feature films including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howell’s Moving Castle.

Shauna’s travels are closer to Nausicaa in style. Alex Dudok De Vito telling That it is a monogatari (illustrated story), with all watercolor illustrations and text presented mostly as captions. It is based on a Tibetan folk tale with a pseudo-Central Asian setting.
The original in the book would later be covered by Miyazaki with an introduction from Alex Dudok de Wit.
Having written an excellent book about Grave of the Fireflies for BFI Film Classics, the translator himself is no stranger to the works of Studio Ghibli.
