“The Dark Hour and Midnight Channel Can’t Be Stopped”

Today we have got an interesting review or even more reviews for you readers. Not long ago, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4: Golden were released on nearly every modern console and you know we here at Honey’s Anime were pretty quick to buy them both. We could do separate reviews for each but we felt let’s spice things up and do a double review of sorts. Our plan here is simple. We’re going to talk about each game – the good and the bad about them – and whether you should buy them both or just one in particular. Now let’s see if both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4: Golden can stand the test of time or should these two titles go into a long slumber so that newer Persona games can shine? We find out in our reviews of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4: Golden for the PS5!

The Good: Persona 3 Portable

By now, many of you know the stories of both Persona 3 and Persona 4, so we won’t spend too much time explaining either game. Persona 3 Portable is the PSP version that changed the game in many ways. Instead of 3D landscapes to explore and the added FES epilogue—the answer—Persona 3 went for more of a portable JRPG/Visual Novel style and even included a female protagonist! Even now Persona 3 Portable is amazing with a deep narrative of Persona stories and some of the best music in the series, probably second only to Persona 5.

The Bad: Persona 3 Portable

It’s hard to write anything bad about Persona 3 Portable—P3P, for short—but we have to admit, this port makes it a little easier. Honestly, Persona 3 Portable feels like a port that was thrown out there to be bought on modern consoles. Yes, we love playing P3P on PS5 but for this release that is the limit of our enjoyment. Audio issues are the biggest problem with the P3P as it seems the audio was removed from the original PSP release. We tried running P3P on the PS4 on a different TV and monitor but then looked online that other people were noticing similar audio problems. The other issue is that P3P…looks dated. Yes, both games here are old by definition, but in an age where ports and remasters are coming left and right, we’ll appreciate the love given to P3P. These issues don’t ruin the entire game and aren’t reasons to buy it if you’ve never played Persona 3 Portable, but if you own the original and, like us, have played it multiple times… then P3P needs it. Can be purchased again for the price of $19.99.

The Good: Persona 4: Golden

Undoubtedly, Persona 4: Golden is the better of the two re-releases. Like P3P, Persona 4: Golden is a more updated version with a new epilogue, new ending, and a new character in the form of Magical/Mysterious Mary. Persona 4: Golden still plays perfectly fine and the audio surprisingly sounds great. Even though Persona 4: Golden shows its age a bit, it feels right to be on PS5 and is still an impressive JRPG!

The Bad: Persona 4: Golden

[sourceLink asin=”” asin_jp=”” cdj_product_id=”” text=”Persona 4: Golden” url=”” ]

Unlike our issues with P3P, Persona 4: Golden doesn’t have many flaws. yeah it still doesn’t have a visual upscale or look polished and it looks like it was ported too quickly but Persona 4: Golden Inn is the new game of the two and that could be the reason why in this version they Issues not shown. Like P3P there’s no reason to buy it again if you’ve already played it on a number of consoles released since the PS Vita, but newcomers will be very pleased. We can admit, it’s the best Persona 4 on modern consoles. : The best way to play Golden. ,

Which one should you buy?!

As much as we love both games equally, we have to give the edge to Persona 4: Golden. There are too many nagging issues with Persona 3 Portable to recommend buying it – especially if you’ve already played it – and the same can’t be said about Persona 4: Golden. We really feel that Persona 3: Portable was rushed in comparison and while it might not cost a lot to buy – and could be a potential remake or remaster – it’s hard to justify buying it again. is if you play it on the PSP when it was originally released. Honestly, our opinion is that ATLUS should have better ported Persona 3: FES, but we equally understand why the portable has a place in many people’s hearts.

final thoughts

Clearly, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4: Golden are showing their age but more clearly, either one is better in terms of performance. We wished our love for ATLUS would have allowed us to buy these on modern heavy systems, but after playing them both, only one feels like a blessing and the other feels rushed. Still, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4: Golden are masterpieces in their own right and feature wonderful stories, solid JRPG turn-based gameplay, and music that’s best enjoyed with headphones blasting. But if you only have to buy one, we think our review has made it clear which of the two is the best for the PS5 or modern console. Have any of you already bought any of these amazing games and have similar comments or different? Feel free to share your thoughts using the comment section below!
