As the popularity of the iskai genre soars through the stratosphere, there is another genre that is enjoying a fairly healthy rise in popularity as well, which is high fantasy with a medieval setting where swords and magic rule the world. . After all, those are the worlds that usually end up being the places where the Aiseki protagonist is taken.

From Goblin Slayer to Delicious in the Dungeon, this type of fantasy has become increasingly common to see on bookshelves. And now, there’s a new addition to this growing genre. It’s called I’m Quitting Heroing. Let us see whether this title is worth your time or not by going through this short review.

Leo is the hero who single-handedly subdued the Demon Queen’s army, and even defeated the Demon Queen herself. He used to have many companions who worked closely with him, such as a priest and a warrior. However, Leo felt that those people were more of a burden than real companions. After all, Leo can easily do everything himself, from finding an inn to defeating an army of demons. Having people who need her constant rescue is, frankly speaking, a waste of time. So he decided to leave them. Lo and behold, he managed to complete the mission faster than expected.

Unfortunately, when he returns to the Holy Kingdom as the man who has defeated the invading demonic army, instead of euphoria and celebration, what awaits him is fear and contempt. The people fear his power, so the royals openly try to assassinate him. Feeling disheartened and hopeless, Leo renounces humanity and moves to a place that can provide a better life for him. So Leo decides to join the Demon Queen’s army.

Why You Should Read Yusha, Yamamasu (I’m Quitting Being a Hero)

1. A Lesson in Management

One of the first things Leo does after becoming part of the Demon Queen’s army is to revolutionize the way management works. You see, the Demon Queen’s army is actually governed by four Guardians who oversee various matters within the army, such as logistics, intelligence, training, maintenance, etc.

The funny thing is, since Leo annihilated a lot of demons during his previous campaign, the weak Demon Queen was short of staff. This is the reason why things have become very busy around their headquarters. So as a gesture of apology and to show them how sincere he really is, Leo takes it upon himself to make some changes to how the Guardians manage their responsibilities so that everything goes as effectively and efficiently as possible. Can walk

In this first section, Leo teaches them how to break down large tasks into smaller, manageable tasks that can be assigned to the appropriate talents within their ranks so that the generals don’t have to micromanage everything. It’s pretty much the basics of managerial principles, but it’s still amazing enough that it turns out to be such an important plot point in a story about a hero and a demon queen. It definitely gives a touch of realism to the story, which makes it much more relatable for the readers.

Why should you give up Yusha, Yamamasu (I’m giving up being a hero)

1. An Unconventional Story

As mentioned above, a lot of manga takes place in this type of fantasy world. After all, the story of a mighty hero against an evil demon lord is about as cliched as can be. Even the premise of the story is really similar to many of the titles that came before it.

The story about a hero who is betrayed and hunted by the people, eventually leading him to join forces with the Demon Lord, is the basis of a manga called Betrayed Hero to Invincible Demon King Is.

Not only that, there is also a manga that centers around the protagonist who decides to give up heroism in order to live a life more suitable to him. This manga is called missing from the hero’s party, I decided to live a quiet life in the countryside. So as you can see, I’m Quitting Heroing is clearly built on top of similar ideas that have come before it. We’re not saying that this manga plagiarizes others or anything serious like that, but it’s not purely based on original ideas either.

I’m Quitting Heroing is another addition to the swords and magical fantasy genre featuring heroes and demons. It may have some interesting elements, such as the above lesson on managerial principles, but the basic ideas behind the story are really built upon other similar titles that came before it.

That being said, it seems like the story will develop into something new and interesting in later volumes. Because going by how the story has developed so far, it looks like the next volume will focus on the origin story of the protagonist. We can see glimpses of modern buildings and skyscrapers scattered here and there, so Leo’s story might have something to do with it. You might want to reserve your judgment until you decide whether or not you should buy this manga.
