There’s no doubt that manga fans like us are dying for the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man to air at the end of the first episode—which has aired since the writing of this article—many of the main characters, Denji. Were going to cosplay as. While looking for a new wall scroll to line the walls of our office, we ran into Denji in his Chainsaw Man mode! We snapped a few photos but we knew he wasn’t going to stand around forever because he had villains to defeat and lives to save. Honestly, we saw a lot of Denji clones running around NYCC 2022, but this particular guy looked like the real deal and now we know he loves NYCC just as much as we do! Maybe we’ll meet him again next year and he can teach us how to be heroes ourselves here in Honey’s anime!
With a new Super Mario movie set to be released in 2023 – The Super Mario Bros. The Movie – We knew some of the NYCC 2022 cosplayers would be dressed as characters from beloved franchises. We ran into some tough guy Mario – it’s too hard for us to take pictures – but we found Princess Peach outside talking to the crowd and just being cute. We wanted to ask him where the real Mario was but we were too dazed to ask! We didn’t see Princess Daisy during her walk-in at NYCC 2022, but we have no doubt she was out there trying to find her Luigi somewhere.
NYCC 2022 may be the prime venue for those who love comics but that doesn’t mean only comic book fans roam the halls! While looking for a panel to watch – which were all extremely busy – we spotted Persona 5’s Joker chilling with his friends. OK, so clearly this isn’t the “canon” Joker, but that’s the beauty of cosplay, you can make your favorite characters be any gender you want! The Joker and his pals were extremely polite and despite us interrupting their playtime—probably tired of stealing hearts and grabbing merchandise—they were more than willing to let us take a picture for our article!
use nyccw and nyccb photos
As we wandered around NYCC 2022, we snapped a lot of random photos and were honestly laughing when we realized some of the images we caught featured cosplays we didn’t expect to be in the shot. One of the first images is looking at the popular childhood character Waldo which is usually quite hard to find! We wonder if you can spot her… It’s not particularly hard to spot, but we won’t deny that we only noticed her presence after scrolling through the various pictures. We wish we could have gotten to talk to him, to see where he has been recently and why he likes to hide in huge crowds!
Another stunning image capturing one of the most iconic heroes, The Dark Knight, Batman. Actually… not just one Dark Knight but several at once! We headed to the press room for a much needed snack break – and to rest our very tired feet – and as we snapped some photos, we found Batman chatting with some convention goers. was! Were they secretly on a mission to save Gotham and/or were they curious about where to find the best bat food? Needless to say, we were smiling that we caught the Caped Crusader and his potential clones in one shot, when they’ve always been known for some great disappearing acts. good job team!
X-Men’s Most Famous Pairings
You can’t have NYCC without seeing the X-Men, one of the most iconic mutant superheroes in the comic world. Part of us was thinking they were on a mission because we couldn’t find the X-Men anywhere before, but then we ran into these two and they need no introduction! Cyclops and Jean Gray are two of the more famous X-Men heroes and we quickly introduced ourselves and posed for a picture! We were scared thinking that Cyclops might hit us with an optic beam but he was just posing and we breathed a sigh of relief! These two were super friendly and we hope they continue to make wonderful representations of two of our favorite X-Men characters!
Bleach and One Piece Crossover!?
A true crossover of Shonen Jump’s more popular series—Bleach and One Piece—never happened, but NYCC 2022 did have a mind-blowing union. On the show floor, we even saw a Zoro cosplayer and an Ichigo! Upstairs, they were talking to each other before we took our photos! We had to wonder what they were discussing. Do they know of a future crossover we haven’t heard about or are the One Piece and Bleach worlds set in the same universe!? Obviously, this is a joke, but we love seeing Shonen Jump fans playing as the two legendary warriors!
Zoro wasn’t the only one piece character we met. As we were leaving for the day we ran. Boa Hancock was also enjoying NYCC 2022 and made us proud with her presence. We applaud this cosplayer for a great job representing one of the best girls from One Piece and we bow our Straw Hats.
The spirit of vengeance has made its presence known!
Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance, and one of the lesser used heroes of the Marvel world. NYCC cosplayers don’t shy away from showing their love for their favorite heroes and villains alike, no matter how popular or infamous they may be. So when we ran straight across a Ghost Rider cosplayer we literally jumped for joy. We gave this dude some props. As you can see from the eyes, her eyes were glowing red and we were left wondering if it was her cosplay or if she had penance too! We took a photo and then said goodbye hoping to leave Hero in a good mood!
